Dear Sir/Madam,

It is my great privilege to invite you to the UGC sponsored National Seminar on Future of Print Media on February 17-18, 2009. The technical sessions for the proposed seminar will be under the following broad heads:

1. Contemporary Changes in Print Media

2. Language Press in India — Past, Present and Future

3. Narrative Journalism

4. Print Media Economics

5. Future of Print Media in the Electronic Era

You may decide to present a paper on any of the above sessions.

You may send the abstract of the paper in about 250 words to mailusp@gmail.com latest by January 31, 2009 .

The full paper of the approved abstracts must be sent latest by February 8, 2009 .

If you desire to give a powerpoint presentation, please send a copy of the same by email by February 10, 2009 so that we may provide a soft copy of the same on CDs to the participants.

The two-day seminar will be held at the Surendranath College Auditorium, Kolkata. Hon'ble Chairman, Press Council of India , Justice GN Ray will inaugurate the seminar.

The Institution organizes Seminars, Workshops, and other Interactive Sessions with the students. Guest lecturers are invited to deliver special lectures on different topics. Different seminars by NGOs have also been organized from time to time.

Being a women’s college we have organized a number of women -oriented seminars etc for the students.

Plan of Action for next five years is to organize interdepartmental seminars on different topics at least once in a year.
